This news adds to the growing roster of riders who are stepping away from competitive cycling, and Grondahl Jansen, who once wore the Norwegian national champion's jersey, has confirmed his decision to retire through a heartfelt Instagram post. He shared a video of himself enjoying the slopes, accompanied by the caption:
"Things you couldn’t do as a professional cyclist. That’s as good a retirement announcement as any, I guess. Preparing for new goals in 2026, getting stuck in with numbers pinned in 6 weeks from now already! Guess where."
After finishing his tenure with Uno-X Mobility at the close of October, Grondahl Jansen's return to a team in his home country lasted just one season. From National Champion to Essential Team Player
Grondahl Jansen embarked on his professional cycling career in 2017 with LottoNL-Jumbo, now known as Team Jumbo-Visma. He quickly became an integral part of their support structure, focusing on sprints and classic races. Throughout his career, he participated in several editions of the Tour de France, playing a crucial role in the lead-out train for sprinter Dylan Groenewegen and providing support for general classification contenders like Primoz Roglic.
His most notable achievement came in 2019 when he triumphed at the Norwegian national road race championships. Shortly after, he secured another significant victory by winning a stage at the ZLM Tour in the Netherlands.
