In Portsmouth, a portion of Water Street from the Water Street garage to City Hall is closed to traffic starting Monday due to the Civic Center Demolition Project. This closure will be in effect until further notice, so plan your routes accordingly.
In other news, there were no injuries after a fire at Old Dominion University’s (ODU) Welcome Center Sunday morning, according to the Norfolk Fire Department. Thankfully, everyone is safe.

- Two people are in custody following a shooting on Powhatan Drive in Gloucester County. The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
- Two people were injured in a shooting on Walker Avenue in Norfolk Saturday afternoon.
- A man is dead after a shooting on Bagnall Road in Norfolk Saturday morning, according to the Norfolk Police Department. This is a serious reminder of the ongoing issues of violence in our community.
Other News:
- A car collided with a train in Suffolk, but thankfully, no injuries were reported. The incident occurred near Suburban Drive and Wilroy Road.
- A man who escaped from the Chesapeake City Jail on Friday has been caught and is back in custody.
- A fire damaged a home on Meadow Country Road in Suffolk, displacing two residents. The Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.
- A neighborhood in Hampton held its yearly community Christmas gathering, spreading holiday cheer.
- The Virginia Zoo spread seasonal cheer Saturday with its Holidays in the Wild event.
