Ghana's Healthcare Sector to Receive a Massive Boost
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is set to revolutionize healthcare in Ghana with a groundbreaking move. Starting January 2026, healthcare providers will receive a substantial 120% boost in tariffs, thanks to a forward-thinking reform.

And this is the part most people miss—the Government's decision to uncap the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is the real hero here, providing an additional GH¢3.4 billion to make this possible.
Dr. Djokoto praised the Independent Clinical Experts' Group for their evidence-based approach, ensuring the new tariffs reflect the true costs of healthcare. He also addressed the issue of illegal charges, stating that the revised tariffs will empower enforcement measures to combat unauthorized payments.
Healthcare leaders are thrilled, with World Bank consultant Rev. Prof. Adukwei Hesse commending the reform's alignment with global best practices. Dr. Isaac Koranteng, an obstetrician, believes the changes will reduce illegal co-payments and improve patient care.
