Imagine a high school campus designed to defy space limitations – that's precisely what the Xiaozhuang Campus of the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University achieves! Located on a 66,700 square meter site, this architectural marvel, crafted by Atelier FCJZ, boasts a total building area of approximately 95,000 square meters. What's even more impressive? An additional 17,000 square meters of semi-outdoor space cleverly avoids being calculated into the floor area ratio.
This campus was designed to accommodate 42 classes, making it a prime example of a high-density, compact campus, a direct response to the constraints of limited land. At the heart of the site, history is preserved: the former Second Communication Station of the Republic of China Air Force stands proudly. Furthermore, a high-rise dormitory, constructed more recently, awaits renovation, blending the old with the new.
And this is the part most people miss... The design beautifully integrates historical elements with modern educational needs.
